TO: FUTURE MEMBER OF SPRI
Thank you for your interest in our organization. We invite you to consider membership.
Sugar Processing Research Institute, (SPRI) is a unique
research organization, with expertise in both cane and beet sugar, and over the
years, has benefited both sectors with new analytical techniques, and an
understanding of the chemical underpinning of many of the process problems that
occur during sugar manufacture, and that impact sugar quality and performance
in final products.
Our research programs balance basic research and applied
research. In addition, our group has a wide range of experience in sugar
processing, quality control, and analytical capability.
SPRI is a non-profit organization that receives the majority
of its funding from industrial sponsors.
We receive additional funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in a
cooperative agreement, and are housed at the Southern Regional Research Center,
a major research laboratory of the USDA. Our ability to work closely with many
fine USDA scientists in this large center and to have access to expensive,
specialized equipment greatly extends our capabilities.
Any company in sugar and sugar related industries, upon
approval by the S.P.R.I. board of directors, may join S.P.R.I.
The institute is controlled by the Board of Directors and
the Executive Committee. Each member
company appoints one member to the SPRI Board.
The research program is guided by the Research Advisory and Review Committee,
which meets at least once a year to select and prioritize research projects.
The rate for sponsoring membership is established by the
Board of Directors, in three categories, based on production categories. The fee is indexed, and changes annually. Our fiscal year begins July 1st of
each year.
If your company is not doing much
R&D, joining S.P.R.I. is the least expensive way to keep up to date with
sugar technologies. We invite your company to join the S.P.R.I. family in
taking up the challenges of the 21st Century. Enclosed is a S.P.R.I. application form for membership.
Again, thank you for your interest in
the Sugar Processing Research Institute, Inc.
Sincerely,
Dr. Charley Richard
Managing Director
